Electric Reach Trucks

Electric Reach Trucks

SINOLIFT electric reach trucks are designed for pallet storage and retrieval in narrow aisles, high racking and space-sensitive warehouse layouts. With load capacities from 1.5 to 3.0 tons across the current range, our reach truck lineup includes compact stand-on models, comfortable seated models, double-deep pantograph trucks and walkie scissor-reach stackers. Buyers can select different mast, battery, control and safety configurations to match their pallet size, lift height, aisle width and daily duty cycle.

Unlike a conventional counterbalance forklift, a reach truck extends its mast or fork carriage toward the rack while the chassis remains in the aisle. This compact operating geometry helps warehouses reduce wasted aisle space, use higher rack positions and increase pallet capacity within the same building. SINOLIFT supplies reach trucks for distribution centers, manufacturing warehouses, cold stores, retail logistics, food operations and other indoor material-handling applications.

01 Stand-on Electric Reach Truck

SINOLIFT stand-on electric reach trucks are designed for compact warehouse aisles and repeated pallet cycles. This category includes the 24V MFD Series for 1.5 ton work and the 48V MF Series for 2.0 to 3.0 ton applications. The standing operator position supports frequent entry and exit, while electric steering, AC drive technology and accessible battery systems help maintain productive daily operation.

02 Seated Electric Reach Truck

SINOLIFT seated electric reach trucks are intended for long shifts, longer travel routes and high-level pallet storage. The MFZ and 2MFZ Series cover 1.6 to 3.0 ton applications and combine compact reach geometry with an ergonomic seat, clear control layout and high-visibility mast design. Multiple mast, battery and positioning options allow the truck to be configured around rack height, aisle width and throughput.

03 Double Deep Electric Reach Truck

SINOLIFT double-deep electric reach trucks are built for high-density storage systems where pallets are stored two positions deep or loads must be reached from a restricted access point. This category includes CQDH rider models with single- or double-scissor pantographs and CQDX pedestrian scissor-reach stackers. Every project should be checked against pallet dimensions, rack geometry, reach distance, lift height and residual capacity.

04 M Series Electric Reach Truck

SINOLIFT M Series electric reach trucks combine AC drive performance, compact chassis design and maintenance-friendly component access. The category includes CQD15B and CQD20B stand-on models for 1.5 to 2.0 ton loads and the CQD25A seated model for 2.5 ton handling. These trucks suit warehouses that need a practical balance of capacity, stability, operator comfort and service access.

What Is an Electric Reach Truck?

An electric reach truck is a battery-powered warehouse forklift built for pallet handling in narrow aisles and at elevated rack levels. Stabilizing legs support the front of the truck, while the mast or fork carriage reaches forward to place or retrieve a pallet. Once the load is withdrawn from the rack, the reach mechanism retracts so the pallet travels closer to the truck body.

This design gives a reach truck a shorter turning envelope than many counterbalance forklifts. It is therefore normally used indoors on level, finished floors where storage density and rack access matter more than outdoor ground clearance. Common configurations include stand-on reach trucks for frequent entry and exit, seated reach trucks for long shifts, double-deep reach trucks for two-deep racking and walkie reach stackers for lower-volume work in compact spaces.

Why Warehouses Use Reach Trucks

1. More Pallet Positions in the Same Building

A compact chassis and reach mechanism allow rack aisles to be planned more tightly than with many conventional counterbalance forklifts. Narrower aisles can release additional floor area for pallet storage, staging or production.

2. High-Level Pallet Handling

Reach trucks are designed for elevated rack work. Available mast choices include duplex and triplex full-free-lift configurations. Optional fork cameras, height-selection systems and fork-height displays can help operators position loads more accurately when direct visibility becomes limited.

3. Precise Indoor Maneuvering

Electric power steering, proportional hydraulic functions and compact turning radii support controlled rack-side positioning. Fork tilt and side-shift options reduce unnecessary truck movement when aligning a pallet with a rack opening.

4. Clean Electric Operation

Battery-powered reach trucks produce no tailpipe emissions at the point of use and operate with low noise, making them suitable for indoor warehousing, food logistics and other clean material-handling environments. Lead-acid and lithium battery configurations can be matched to the shift pattern and charging strategy.

5. Operator Comfort and Visibility

Stand-on models support frequent entry and exit, while seated models provide greater comfort for longer shifts and travel distances. Wide-view masts, adjustable seats, ergonomic joysticks, cameras and panoramic overhead-guard options help reduce fatigue and improve load visibility.

6. Service-Friendly Design

AC drive technology reduces routine maintenance associated with brushed traction motors. Removable covers, onboard diagnostics and side- or front-pull battery systems improve access for inspection, charging and battery replacement.

How to Choose a Reach Truck

1. Confirm the Load and Load Center

Start with the heaviest pallet, its dimensions and the true load center. Rated capacity is only the starting point. The safe capacity available at the required lift height and reach distance may be lower, especially with a pantograph, side shifter, longer forks or another attachment.

2. Measure the Working Aisle

Record the clear rack-to-rack aisle width, pallet orientation, load overhang, rack protection and turning space at aisle ends. Compare these dimensions with the manufacturer’s right-angle stacking aisle value for the actual pallet size. Do not select a truck from turning radius alone.

3. Define the Maximum Lift Height

Measure the top beam height and add the clearance needed to place and withdraw the pallet safely. Also check the mast’s closed height against doors, sprinklers, mezzanines and other overhead restrictions. A triplex full-free-lift mast is useful where the forks must rise before the mast sections extend.

4. Select Stand-On, Seated or Walkie Operation

Stand-on reach trucks are efficient for repeated short cycles and frequent mounting and dismounting. Seated reach trucks are generally more comfortable for long shifts and longer travel routes. Walkie scissor-reach stackers suit lower-throughput sites, compact areas and applications where a rider platform is not required.

5. Match the Battery to the Duty Cycle

Consider working hours, lift frequency, travel distance, charging windows and ambient temperature. Lead-acid batteries remain practical for planned battery-change routines, while lithium batteries support fast charging and opportunity charging in suitable multi-shift applications. The charger and local electrical supply must be confirmed with the selected battery.

6. Check the Racking System

Standard reach trucks are normally used with single-deep selective racking. Double-deep racking requires a compatible pantograph reach mechanism and an operating plan that accounts for reduced direct access to the rear pallet. Drive-in, cold-store and other special rack environments may require additional protection or a custom configuration.

7. Specify Safety and Positioning Options

Useful options can include fork cameras, blue or red warning lights, reverse alarms, height pre-selection, fork-height display, load weighing, key-card access, operator-presence sensing and cold-store protection. Select equipment according to the site risk assessment and operating procedure rather than adding options without a defined use case.

Reach Truck FAQs

What is the difference between a reach truck and a forklift?

A reach truck is a specialized electric warehouse forklift with a mast or fork carriage that extends toward the rack. Its compact chassis is optimized for narrow indoor aisles and high racking. A counterbalance forklift usually needs more turning space but is more versatile for loading docks, yards, mixed surfaces and indoor-outdoor work.

How much weight can a reach truck lift?

The current SINOLIFT range covered on this page includes models rated from 1,500 to 3,000 kg. Actual capacity at height depends on the model, mast, load center, reach distance and attachments. Always confirm the residual-capacity chart for the required working condition.

How high can a reach truck lift?

Lift height varies by model and mast. Current standard product sheets include configurations from 3,000 to 8,000 mm, while selected custom high-lift or double-deep configurations can be specified for greater heights. Final capacity at the requested height must be confirmed before ordering.

How wide does an aisle need to be for a reach truck?

There is no universal minimum. The required working aisle depends on the truck, pallet size, load orientation, rack protection and operating clearance. For example, published SINOLIFT model values for common 1,000 x 1,200 mm and 800 x 1,200 mm pallets vary by chassis and capacity. Use the right-angle stacking aisle specification for the selected model and have the complete layout checked.

Are reach trucks suitable for outdoor use?

Most reach trucks are intended for indoor use on smooth, level and dry floors. Polyurethane wheels, limited ground clearance and high lift heights make uneven or wet outdoor surfaces unsuitable for many models. Use a counterbalance or rough-terrain forklift where the site includes yards, ramps or poor ground conditions.

What is a double-deep reach truck?

A double-deep reach truck uses a pantograph or scissor mechanism to extend the forks to the rear pallet position in racking that stores two pallets in depth. It can increase storage density, but the front pallet must normally be removed before the rear pallet can be accessed.

Should I choose a stand-on or seated reach truck?

Choose a stand-on model for frequent short cycles, quick entry and exit, and compact operation. Choose a seated model for long shifts, longer travel routes and applications where sustained operator comfort is a priority. The final decision should also consider aisle width, lift height, capacity and operator workflow.

Can SINOLIFT reach trucks use lithium batteries?

Lithium options are available for selected models, while other configurations use lead-acid batteries. Battery availability, capacity, charger specification and cold-temperature suitability must be confirmed for the chosen truck and duty cycle.
