Both pallet jacks and forklifts can help move large loads stacked on pallets. However, there are some key differences between the two.
Pallet jacks (Category 3: Electric manual forklifts or manual/riding forklifts)
Work where space is limited
Includes sit-down, stand-up and walk-behind models
Lift up to 5,000 pounds or more
Maximum lift height is typically less than 10 inches
Forklifts (all other forklift categories)
Mostly sit-down driving
Larger and require proper maneuvering space
Can lift more than 5,000 pounds
Can lift loads up to 35 feet in height
